For the past fifteen years, the Missouri Institute of Mental Health’s division of Continuing Education has been producing innovative multimedia programs to teach students about the science of addiction. Most of these projects have been funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Consequently, the materials are in the public domain and we are offering them for free on this site.
“The Doubles” is a series of DVDs, CD-ROMs, Workbooks, and an Internet site designed to teach elementary to middle school aged students about the science of addiction. The link to the right will take you to a site where you can download many of these materials including a teacher’s manual that describes how to integrate the program into standard classroom instruction.
“It’s A Brain Thang” is a series of DVDs and CD-ROMs designed to teach middle school aged students about the science of addiction. Although the program was originally created for delivery at African-American churches, the basic lessons tie in well with middle school science curriculum. The link to the right will take you to a site where you can download these materials.
Finally, please feel free to contact us if you have any question, comments or concerns.
